Shingeki no Kyojin - The Final Season - Episode 63 - 10 Second Anime

The Tybur family of Eldians takes a more prominent role in the Marleyan government. Reiner meets a surprise guest.

#63 – “From One Hand to Another”

Hmm.

Shingeki no Kyojin answered a key question of how a nation of regular people overthrew a royal family controlling an army of magic giants. They had a traitor work for them. There’s still lots of questions about the legend of Helos the Marleyan hero who slew the Devil to free the world, but I’m sure we’ll see those events from a hundred years ago fleshed out soon enough. I suspect the Founding Titan and the War Hammer Titan were on opposite sides of a civil war, and the Devil was a Titan with the remaining powers in one person. When the Marleyan champion killed all those Titan Powers at one time, the Eldian King had no way to fight the War Hammer Titan and abdicated to Paradis Island. It was a gamble to see where the new holders of the Titan Powers would show up, which explains the ghetto system.

My questions now are how Grisha took the Attacking Titan and escaped to Paradis Island and what does this War Hammer Titan look like and what can it do. It better be a big deal. Still, I’m getting impatient to see Eren back with this crew, because Shingeki no Kyojin’s Marleyan arc covering a coup plot and establishing which side the new characters will land on is stretching itself thin. Get on with it already.

Heh.

Oh? Eren calls himself “Kruger.” Where is that letter going to? He wants to tell his “family” where he is and he’s “doing just fine.” Making me curious, Eren.

The Tybur family were the Eldians who rebelled against the Reiss family and forced their exile to Paradis Island. Shingeki no Kyojin is really building up the power of the War Hammer Titan Power too. Their guards are huge! Ah. This blonde guy was the one who bought a newspaper when the Marleyans finished their imperialist war. That priest and nun’s clothing looks those cultists that chose to worship Ymir on Paradis Island.

Lame game to play about which Tybur family member has the War Hammer. Good. Shingeki no Kyojin nailed down the timeline for me. The Walled City on Paradis Island is one hundred years old because that’s when the Marleyan hero Helos killed a Titan named “the devil of all earth.” I guess that this Titan had way more one Titan Power. O ho. Magath and Tybur want to stage a coup. They’ve had enough warring for no purpose other than to play with Titan power.

Magath doesn’t like how the Marleyans make other people fight for them. They’ve also been using the conquered lands’ people to fill their fighting army, not just Titan powers. Willy Tybur acknowledges his Eldian family is the true power behind the government. The Tyburs let the Eldians and Marleyans have their way for a while, but the evidence of world powers achieving parity with Titan Power by using aircraft and special munitions shows they haven’t been innovative. Willy says Marley needs another hero. Who will that be?

Ha. Pieck walks around on all fours all the time since she’s been spending so much time as the transformed Cart Titan. Map of Walls and Paradis Island. Reiner has four-year old information, and he warns that none of the ships approaching the docks ever returned. Did the Eldians capture them to make their own navy? Reiner offers no suggestions, only negative assessments.

Interesting how the gate guards to the ghettos have avuncular relationships with the kids. Hahaha! Falco wants to be the Armored Titan so Gabi can live longer than thirteen years. He’s in love with her! Gabi can’t make the connection. Muscle-head girl. Fun music too.

Shingeki no Kyojin’s festival setting for a big announcement is ham-fisted. Willy and Magath want to use it for their purposes, but there’s a stray Eren in Marley too. The buildup of suspense and tension is too obvious. The nation of Marley’s people are all ethnically different and come from the absorbed lands of the empire. Like being a Roman citizen. The “pure” Marleyans are the Eldians. The glasses kid was an Eldian from one of those nations and they hate them more over there. Uh, “smart and cute as a button!” would be more convincing if the art style weren’t so ugly.

There it is. Willy and Magath are officially in “cahoots.” The Tybur family always served the royals, so Willy feels the weight of responsibility. The way he talks, it sounds like he lived through those times, which would mean he’s the current holder of the War Hammer Titan and can access those memories. Eren tells Falco he’s going back to his “hometown” after the festival is over. Big doings at that festival for many factions.

Holy crap! Eren met his grandfather who blames Grisha for the murder and worse of his little sister. Eren’s Marley arc is complete. Shingeki no Kyojin needs to show him bite his thumb impotently before shouting his head off. I hope he’s more reliable than he used to be. This Jaeger tells Eren that Restorationists, the ones loyal to the royal family, are the ones banished to Paradis Island as Pure Titans. It’s rare that the government didn’t send Falco over too, since they caught his uncle. Volunteering for the Warrior program with his brother, who will take over the Beast Titan from Zeke, was how they spared the rest of the family. Ha! The Doctor Jaeger is a mental patient at the hospital!

An Easterner from Hizuru had sympathy for Udo the glasses kid. I wonder if that’s where Mikasa’s mother came from. All these different ethnicities flock to Willy, but the pure Marleyans show their bigotry. Uh oh. When I hear a leader talk about a “single solution” to problems with one race or another, and that race is already in ghettos, I think of another “final solution.” Blargh. Willy wants to present his “solution” as a parable during a theater production. Like how another empire used the operas of Wagner. Laying it on thick.

This is bizarre humor. The kids are having fun eating ice cream, but their faces are passionately serious and dramatic. They remind me of Eren and Armin shouting at each other over how fun something would be. Nice. They made “uncle” Reiner buy them treats and play games. Oh boy. Gabi’s words of new things happening and things about to change is laying it on even thicker.

Awww… Damn! Reiner just met Eren! Cliffhanger!
