The episode was a simultaneous battle in three different areas. Emilia went through her final trial of enduring the knowledge of terrible possible futures while Garfiel and Frederica fought Elsa and her partner's mabeasts at the Roswaal mansion. Minerva, the patron witch of the elves was most happy to see Emilia mature and pass through another unimaginable hardship.
Elsa was ecstatic at how long Garfiel went toe to toe with her, but she would only express her love for him when she literally saw his bloody guts. Garfiel found an attack that she couldn't heal from and it came from her partner's own summoned mabeast's corpse.
The third battleground was Ram and Puck fighting Roswaal. Puck distracted Roswaal by enlarging his cute spirit form to fool him into thinking he took on his Beast of the End form so that Ram could confess her love for Roswaal and destroy his most prized possession of the Tome of Wisdom. All the conditions for Subaru's final victory came together, if only he can convince Beatrice to leave her Forbidden Library.
