Non Non Biyori Nonstop - Episode 2 - 10 Second Anime

Konomi notices that the usually mature Hotaru doesn’t act like that all the time.

Episode 2 – “Was Hotaru Really Mature?”

Hmm.

The theme of today’s Non Non Biyori Nonstop episode is maturity. Is maturity about appearing mature or acting mature? Hotaru, the tall, pretty, and polite Hotaru is the perfect character to explore what maturity means, because we know how childish she is when she’s by herself, with her dog, or with her parents. Hotaru makes much material to make jokes because of how the other characters act around her. Even new Akane the new visitor becomes caught up in the comedic misunderstandings.

Of course, Renge is the mascot of the Non Non Biyori, so she started us off with the Japanese cultural marker for maturity – eating her peppers. She hates green peppers so much that she won’t even plant them in the ground. Now that’s immature. Tomatoes are a-okay, though.

Heh.

Kazu-nee is lucky to have Renge become passionate about things so quickly. From one child helping plant a vegetable garden to a whole gang, just like that. And just as suddenly, Renge has other things to do when she heard she would plant bell peppers. Oh, she’s okay again. Tomatoes are fine. Ah. We’ll be focusing on the “mature” Hotaru.

Kazuho is quite organized when she wants to be. She already staked out her tomato garden. Komari hates bugs, which is a problem for farm children in the country. The kids haven’t stopped planting yet. It’s greenhouse time. It’s like pitching a tent. Every show this season is Yuru Camp.

Corgi belly. Time to see whether Hotaru really is mature. Will Komari every discover Hotaru’s room full of Komari dolls? Yay. Akane became a recurring character. Is this a difference without a distinction? Konomi wonders if Akane is anxious around strangers and also shy. Akane says she’s anxious around strangers because she’s shy. That sounds like a tautology to me. Konomi uses her neighbors to solve Akane’s problems. Always the master manipulator.

Hotaru is over at Komari and Natsumi’s house. Which one of these kids is the one Konomi wanted Akane to meet? Nii-chan ghosts right by. Ha! Akane thinks Hotaru is older than she is. Nii-chan has a home improvement project. Konomi sees Akane’s deference to Hotaru. Har. She didn’t waste any time asking about it either. Nii-chan the ghost made a bag of sugar appear. Haha. Konomi didn’t see “Glasses-kun” there either. Spooky!

Here we go. Baby girl Hotaru wants her parents to spoil her. It looks like Konomi is in that train car too. Hotaru blushes big time! Konomi offers to let Hotaru be babyish with her too. Hotaru needs convincing, but Konomi knows her weak point. The master manipulator uses Komari as an example because she knows Hotaru admires her so much. So many embarrassing stories about Komari. Hotaru doesn’t want to look like she’s “cheating” on her Komari-senpai. I don’t think she can handle using Komari’s lap pillow.

Corgi butt. Pechi is a nice dog. He’s another one Hotaru can do baby talk with. That’s a lot of cuddling. And Konomi witnesses a baby Hotaru again. Next time, Hikage comes to visit and gets in trouble with Natsumi. Fans growing tomatoes in the end card.
