Both Toukai Teiou and Mejiro McQueen injured themselves in their last dramatic race at the Tennoushou so the horse girl stories turned to Mihono Bourbon trying to complete the Triple Crown and Mejiro Palmer running well because of her friendly rivalry with Daitaku Helios. Bourbon's stalker turned out to be Rice Shower, who beat her in the final leg of the Triple Crown series. Bourbon didn't show any emotion afterwards, only wishing to win her next race.

Trainer "bought" some drinks for his colleague Hana, who offered advice on how to help Toukai Teiou find motivation to race again, since she failed at all her goals. A series of injuries kept her sidelined while the McQueen rehabbed her injuries on her own. Teiou still felt the sting of defeat in a small comeback race, so her desire to win was still there. She needed something extra, though. The side stories showing Palmer, Helios, and Bourbon all connected to Teiou's situation... and McQueen's!
McQueen knew she needed her friendly rivalry with Teiou to keep her focused on her goals, the first one being defeating Teiou at her specialty distance, because it wasn't that surprising that Teiou didn't surpass the long distance racer McQueen. But first, the two horse girls needed to finish their rehabilitation to reclaim their winning ways.
