The rules for the semifinals mean climbers have five minutes to look at a wall for the first time and then climb it. Girls need to wait their turn in a seclusion zone, warming up or doing whatever. Kurea tried to throw some shade at Konomi, but it seemed like Konomi didn't even recognize Kurea from their ballet days. Worse yet, she gave a canned speech about being a team of all one heart with angelic light flowing over her. I think Konomi got practice giving interviews about teamwork during her pro gaming days.
Konomi was the last to make the semifinal cut, so she was first to climb. She shocked and fired up the crowd by one-shotting the her first wall and then the second as well! The girls in the seclusion zone suspected someone had a special run going and the more experienced climbers realized Konomi would be a force they would need to reckon with. We also started getting acquainted with the other climbers, like Zombie Nijima, who doesn't climb all that well, but she's quick to recover from her mistakes.
Konomi has her own name for the puzzle solving zone she gets into – High Concentration Konomin. It may be fine for gaming, but she needs to get out of that mode to recover in between climbing sessions.
Kurea got a big bowl of comeuppance when she saw that Konomi had only been climbing for two months compared to her two years. Konomi was taking over the prima ballerina role in climbing that Kurea so coveted after she couldn't take it while doing ballet with Konomi. It's happening again! There's lots of foreshadowing that Konomi can't keep up her High Concentration mode without paying a price, so there's a cliffhanger of sorts leading into the next episode.
