Iwa Kakeru! Sport Climbing Girls - Episode 1 - Konomi Reaches for Next Hold

Konomi saw her next move for climbing the wall and she stretched her hand towards it.

Sport Climbing Girls tried to tie itself to the Olympics, but they were canceled this year, so this was a dumb prologue to explain competitive wall climbing.

The opening credits make sure you know we'll be watching fit girls flex their butts, abs, and arms as they climb up walls. I'm so ready for it.

New high school student Konomi checked out which clubs she might want to join and became interested in the climbing walls. Super serious Jun told her not to touch the rocks, but didn't mind seeing if she would like trying to climb them.

Jun thought Konomi would give up after he first fall, but Konomi started to figure out the rules of the climbing wall.

Konomi's puzzle piece hair clip gave away that she loves solving puzzles and she began to see the wall as a puzzle board where she needs to figure out the right path using her body's abilities. The senior wall climbing girls became excited that such a talented newcomer would join their team, but that was all ruined when Jun heard Konomi call wall climbing a "game." Jun wouldn't allow Konomi to join the club unless she beat her in a wall climbing match!

Sport Climbing Girls follows the usual sports anime plot development where the main character almost beats the ace with a handicap. Looking at beautiful girls' bodies from awesome camera angles makes it much more interesting.

We saw Jun's boring backstory of always climbing walls from a young age, but it looked like she used to smile more. Konomi's past made her relatable to the target audience, because she used to be a competitive casual and puzzle gamer. She gave up her pastime to study for entrance exams to get into high school, but now she's applying those puzzle solving skills to the climbing wall.

As expected, Jun barely won, but reluctantly allowed Konomi into the club for a proper rematch. Tsundere! The seniors said great, so Konomi could jump right into activities. Like, a full-blown competition... tomorrow! Lots of oddballs in this wall climbing club, so I like them all, but just Jun for her abs.

The end credits show the Climbing Club on a training camp at an old-fashioned inn. Maybe there will be hot springs there so we can see this happen during the season. Let's hope!
