Vuelta Veo del Dia - Stage 4 - 10/23/2020

The Castildetierra formation in Navarre, Spain, as seen near the route of Stage 4 of the 2020 Vuelta á España.

Bardena Reales is the desert region in southern Navarre, Spain, and is home to many rock formations such as the Castildetierra. The eroded landmark, similar to many of the red canyon formations of the mountain and southwestern states of America like Utah, Colorado, and Arizona, is not to be confused with the actual Castil de Tierra, a town in the Castilla y Leon region of Spain. Both places mean "castle of earth," but the rock formation is obviously more literal than descriptive.
