The maglia ciclamino, the jersey the current leader of the sprint points classification at the Giro d'Italia, is named after the alpine flower cyclamen, but its technical color is mauve. The sprint points jersey hasn't always been the same color. There was no jersey for the points leader when the system modeled after the Tour de France awarded its first points trophy in 1966. From 1967 to 1968, the points leader wore a red jersey. Then from 1969 to 2009, the points leader wore the maglia ciclamino. In 2010, the sprint leaders jersey switched back to red, dubbed the maglia rossa passione, before coming back to the cyclamen jersey in 2017.
