Tour Tidbit du Jour - Stage 7 - 9/4/2020

Matteo Trentin of CCC Team barely beat Peter Sagan of Bora-Hansgrohe at the Intermediate Sprint Line, requiring photo confirmation.

Peter Sagan's team decided to take advantage of the windy conditions and rolling hills at the start of Stage 7 from Millau to Lavaur, causing big splits in the peloton and dropping his main sprinter rivals minutes behind him. In a cheeky move, Trentin took full points at the Intermediate Sprint, which blunted Sagan's strategy of picking up enough points at that line and the finish line to gain enough points to take the green jersey away from Sam Bennett of Deceuninck - Quick - Step. Sagan didn't place very well at the finish line, but still scored some points for his 13th place, securing more than enough points to lead the sprint points competition again, since Bennett collected no points at all on the stage.
