When Adam Yates pulled on the yellow jersey after Stage 5 of the 2020 Tour de France, he became only the ninth British rider to do so. The last British rider to wear the maillot jaune was Geraint Thomas in 2018. He first took it after the eleventh stage and wore it all the way to Paris as the overall winner that year.
