The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 delayed the Tour by two months, which was the biggest effect the disease had. Other effects include the social distancing protocols, leading to fewer spectators. There are also fewer spectators because the European vacation season ends at the end of August. Still, the pandemic and the end of summer trips did not dissuade one of the iconic spectators and mascots of the Tour. A mask, of course, hides his trademark tongue wagging facial expression.
