Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru Kan - Episode 3 - 10 Second Anime

Yukino’s organization of the senior prom appears to be going well. She and Iroha put on a dress rehearsal to make a promotional video.

Episode 3 – “Iroha Isshiki is the Strongest Junior, as Expected”

Hmm.

In Oreigaru this week, Yukino shows everyone why they expected her to be the student council president. Of course, planning one large event is not the same as being a political leader. Yukino’s handling of the prom production shows she could be a great dictator too. She even appears to be asking Hachiman and Yui for help. However, things look like they’re going too well. There must always be room for drama in a SNAFU love comedy, so we just haven’t seen it yet. One clue might be how Yukino asked Hachiman and Yui to do almost trivial things for the prom preview event. For the actual event, with so many moving parts, the planners need to be flexible and have contingency plans. Will Yukino be ready when one problem starts causing a cascade of them? Oreigaru is making me nervous with the lack of external circumstances slowing Yukino down.

That nervousness wouldn’t let me fully enjoy Yui’s time on the dance floor with Hachiman. The student council set up a dress rehearsal of sorts to record a promotional video, so everything was fake. Yui’s comments about preserving the raw video product and her happy, yet reserved facial expressions foreshadow the real prom not letting her have the moments with Hachiman she wishes for. The opening credits spoil a scene showing Hachiman and Yukino sharing a prom dance outside somewhere. This Oreigaru romcom is totally SNAFU!

Heh.

Shizuka-sensei needs more screen time. She should also switch to vaping… Uh oh. She suggests she’s leaving the school. When? Why? Noooo!

Saika continues to be Hachiman’s best girl when he’s not a girl… Har, Hachiman is blushing like he just asked the dude for a date. Hachiman got a text from Komachi, and Saki got a text too, making her run out. Good news? Sad news? Yay! Komachi made it into her brother’s high school. So did Saki’s little brother. Haha. Hachiman is no longer Big Bro, but Senpai. Poor guy. Komachi is crying harder in Yui’s arms than his own. It’s a girl thing.

No drama there, so might Iroha give Hachiman some heartburn? Does she need help with the prom? Oh, things are going smoothly. So smoothly, it makes Iroha question why Yukino isn’t the student council president. We covered that messy ground a long time ago. Hachiman says watch out for Yukino’s lack of stamina. She’ll overwork herself because she doesn’t delegate. Nice. Iroha noticed that Hachiman is overprotective. Like a big brother, he insists. Iroha claims girls don’t like guys treating them like a younger sister. She just gave Hachiman some ammo against her. Yowch! Iroha showed him what being friend-zoned would look like adding a big brother or dad flavor to it. That hurt him deep in his heart… This turned into a serious philosophical debate. Look at Iroha’s expression! I’ve missed their banter.

The prom committee made a social media group to make announcements, but Hachiman didn’t see it. This might be Oreigaru's avenue for complications, since older people don’t use these apps. Put a pin in this detail for later. Hee. Yukino pet a cat picture from a cat café.

Oh. The decorations and what-not are up because they’re shooting a promo video for the school’s website. Hachiman looks like a washed-up pianist. Yukino looks like a pianist too… Will Iroha be Yukino’s queen for the video? Iroha flirts with anybody! Yui gets a dress too. Don’t make it too tight, Saki. It’s a man’s job to escort a lady, right Hachiman?

Yui is happy to share a dancing moment with Hachiman, but there’s a sense of wistfulness about it because she knows it’s not real. Hachiman’s problem is always the same – he can’t live in the moment and just enjoy it. Always detached. Tobe has after-school dance fever. Hachiman now knows what a prom is. He hates it.

Next time, it looks like Oreigaru's drama is starting with Yukino’s mother.
