10 Second Anime - Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator - Episode 5

As Accelerator literally recharges, Anti Skill goes after DA and finds other groups pursuing this violent fringe element.

#05 - "(DA) Security Officer Darkness"

Hmm.

This episode reminded me very much of how the stories are set up in One Punch Man. Specifically, how Saitama is barely in it even though the show is supposed to be about him. The same thing happened here with Accelerator. He is literally recharging his battery while all these other characters and groups kill each other over Misaka 10046. Thankfully, he got back into the game at the very end of the episode, because, as cute as his conversation was with Last Order about lumpy pomegranate juice, that's not why we're here. We're here to see Accelerator show the villains who the best villain is, while he does good works in order to protect teenage girls and his adoptive little sister.

One thing I did notice, only because it was on screen for so long, was how important Accelerator's battery will be. You don't spend a quarter of a half hour show on a disabled boy trying to place his prosthetic in its charger unless there's going to be an important plot point later. The battery is definitely something to watch out for.

Meh.

I think it's really lazy to make the important SWAT guys not wear helmets, just so we can recognize them on screen. When you have Yomikawa's big three charging into a battlefield, and not hanging back giving orders but right in the middle of it, and they're the only ones not wearing helmets and goggles, it takes me right out of the scene. Verisimilitude has left the building.

Speaking of that verisimilitude guy, he took rhetorical questions with him. The redhead guy who should be wearing a helmet and goggles asked why DA is vulnerable now. The scene immediately shifted to that governing board guy answering his question. Uh, who is he talking to so he could perfectly answer this question? It's not like he's on the comms with Anti Skill during this operation to answer his question about shifting loyalties, and goals no longer aligning. That was totally meh.

Heh.

Is this bearded guy for Anti Skill going to be important?

I forget. Why is Esther wearing a nurse uniform? Because her other clothes got wet?

Accelerator has to literally recharge before getting back into the action. This shows how disabled he really is without Last Order and the MISAKA network. Shouldn't he carry spares?

Neuroscience guy finally explains why Esther needed to find Last Order, because dude needed her networking ability to handle his new weapon based on dead people.

Using one of the Sisters can access MISAKA network partially, so he could do something makeshift. Probably going to be the Chapter Boss instead of the Final Boss.

Hirumi is Esther's friend in flashbacks. She's just a cold, dead body now.

Ugh. This show is not afraid of making hamburger meat for the plot.

How compartmentalized is Anti Skill? Shouldn't they know that Accelerator already beat something like that Tarantula thing?

Ha! Out-of-season Santa! All black with a black sack.

Bad girls are bad. They'll even kill Anti Skill guys if they're in the way of getting to DA.

Ugh again. Weed-whacker drones!

Nakimoto's cleaners? I guess that crazy redhead scientist lady was named Nakimoto.

Yomikawa thinks she sees Biribiri? She probably doesn't know Mikoto has been cloned twenty thousand times.

Esther and Huotou finally made it.

Bad girls don't like goody-goodies. They hide behind teachers. They immediately think Yomikawa is a teacher. They're not wrong, but it's not clear why they would think that.

Booby girl likes to wear paper. That stuffed bunny mecha is not as scary as the art director hoped.

Last Order and Accelerator are great. This whole "lumpy pomegranate juice" thing was too cute.

Next time, Accelerator is going to show friction girl fun with vectors.
