Accelerator joins Esther in her mission to stop the underground group DA from exploiting the necromancy powers she taught them.
#03 - "Numbers (Charms of the Four Perils)"
Hmm.
It will never get old for me to see Accelerator show up at the villain's outpost and just totally outshine that villain in his villainous style. Although, it can get a bit tedious if the other villain has the same verbal villain tic that Accelerator has in doing that questioning "hah?" response. The one taking advantage of Esther's necromantic powers is one of these "hah?" guys too, but thankfully he and Accelerator haven't done a string of villainous queries in a row yet.
Another thing I noticed was how the episode titles are very similar to the Index III titles for the Academy City underworld arcs. They make mention of something important to the characters and the plot, but the characters never say the words. We only ever get a visual cue about these important things. Here, the villain actually said the word "Number" in reference to one of Esther's symbols, which she carries around on charms. Apparently, there are four of them. One is in the big robot, the other two have already been used somewhere else, and there's a fourth, which I presume Esther used in the morgue near the end of the episode. I'd rather get a more explicit explanation of these episode titles from the action and dialog, but I'm just putting together pieces of a puzzle at this point.
Lastly, I'm just glad to see any scene with Last Order trying to get a rise out of Accelerator, and just not succeeding. Playing the jealous younger sister would usually bring out all sorts of protestations of misunderstandings from a herbivore protagonist, but you're not going to get that response from Accelerator the villain. Funnily enough, Esther doesn't provide the "kyaa" factor either. She just has no sense of modesty, or even knowledge of Japanese versions of Western cuisine. She might have been literally raised in a barn. Judging from her anatomy, I want to posit she came from a dairy farm...
Heh.
Misaka Misaka is not at all happy with Accelerator bringing home a beautiful stranger. Accelerator's only complaint at her reaction is that she ruined the food they were supposed to eat. You can tell by the end of the scene that Last Order already accepted Esther because she hid behind her when Accelerator got mad.
Esther appears not to have ever been to a family restaurant. I wonder what country she's from, because her name, Esther Rosenthal, sounds Bavarian. At least she and Last Order bonded in a sisterly way over food.
Esther doesn't mind showing off her body and her complicated underwear. Last Order minds, though. Misaka Misaka minds very much, she says while pointing out the importance of feminine modesty. Last Order learned all about it from the Sisters reading women's magazines. That's not very reassuring. The doctor Heaven Canceller is also unimpressed with Esther's anatomy, but they're in a hospital and he's a doctor, so he's just being normal here.
The plot advances a little bit more by the end of the episode. Shouldn't the hospital be aware of fake Anti Skill people by now? There's till no hint on why Esther was looking for Last Order yet. I suppose we'll find out what one of the Peril Charms can do next episode.
