Yesterday, the route took the Tour through the world famous Champagne vineyards of France. Today on Stage 5, the cyclists rode through the Alsace region of eastern France, where its proximity to Germany not only influenced its place names and architecture, but also its choice in grape varietals. Alsatian wine specializes in Riesling and Gewürztraminer white wines.
