Hirotaka appears to be an otaku girl's ideal boyfriend. Narumi gets to drink while he farms mats for her. Win-win!
So, I had to look up the difference between wotaku and otaku. Real otaku (fans of manga, anime, game subculture) started calling themselves wotaku online because they got tired of normies appropriating their label. Wo (を) and o (お) are pronounced the same in Japanese. Kind of the same thing in America where hot chicks put on glasses and call themselves "geeks" but they only watch Marvel movies.
Narumi exulted that she successfully avoided being outed as an otaku by her childhood friend Hirotaka. He owed her a beer. Many, in fact.
Hanako and Narumi recognized each from the big Comiket (Comics Market) series of conventions. Hanako is a famous ikemen cosplayer and Narumi displays her doujins there.
Narumi laughed at the idea that the waiter thought she and Hirotaka were dating, based on how often they hung out after work gaming and drinking, but then Hirotaka sold the idea seriously. Narumi agreed, but mainly for the game grinding help. We'll see how that turns out.
