Episode 15 - "Jeanne d'Arc Rises"
Hmm.
The Shokugeki Scrolling Picture Drama rolls along. The proctor pulled another underhanded trick with the ingredients, basically not letting the rebels cook until there were no noodles or flour left. It was a little sneakier than just giving them bad ingredients, because the dude also timed it for a blizzard to hit so they couldn't buy food in the city. Thanks to potato power and Erina's lessons about Hokkaido spuds, all the rebels survived. Again.
Thankfully, that part of the plot was over with quickly. The meat of the dish, heh, was Erina's relationship with the other kids, especially Ikumi and Megumi. It was good to see some kind of rapprochement between Ikumi and Erina, since she used to be one of Erina's enforcers, but was basically ignored after she lost her match against Souma. Megumi shares a love of a certain manga, which have been Erina's bribes from Hisako this entire time, and Erina just learned they all came from Megumi. As if Souma had brought Shoujo Ai manga with him to the dorms. He basically stole them from Megumi after entering her room without permission. So rude!
This is all fun, because the harem girls need get friendly with each other if they're going to share Souma, right? They still have to wrestle him away from Takumi, though. Speaking of the the Aldini bros, it was good to see that Isami has his own things going on. The story has focused on Takumi, with Isami being the straight man foil, but he's pretty smooth with the ladies. He angled his way into walking around Sapporo with the three Best Girls of their class! Isami bro!
Also good to see in the epilogue, which was hinted at the beginning of the episode with the Elite Council traveling somewhere, that the proctors' sneaky cheating ways were over. The Elites are going to fail the rebels with their own strength, and separately too. Let's hope Erina-sensei's lessons stick without her presence.
Heh.
Aw. Momo hates planes. Big bro Somei is strict!
Here we go. The next round of cheating.
Hokkaido noodles this time around.
Ah. The rebels are being assigned a room last, making sure they run out of ingredients. And a blizzard just hit, so they can't go into town to buy some more.
All those nice vegetables for ingredients, but someone forgot potatoes are not vegetables! Erina-sensei's first lesson was about potatoes. Wow, such foreshadowing...
Potato noodles. Potato broth. And even potato mocchi for the topping!
Ha! I'm loving how Takumi and even Megumi are stepping on Souma's lines. He's really not in charge here.
Okay, I'm glad this is the last we'll see of cheating middle-aged proctors. I'm not a big fan of regular people foodgasms. Give me some babes and muscles!
Erina is leading the rebels. She's Jeanne d'Arc! But Arturia had the ahoge, not Jeanne. Whoops, I'm mixing up my modern media franchises.
Well, we need the Elite 10 to push back these rebels. Good thing they already boarded a plane, huh?
Nice. Takumi and Souma are bro'ing out in Sapporo.
Nicer! Isami scored a walking trip with the three Best Girls!
Aw. Ikumi and Erina are bonding over a similar family situation and reconnecting in a more peer-based way.
Look at all the blushing over a confession of "respect." Maybe "admire" is the better word here. It still looks like Ikumi is saying "dai, dai, dai, dai, daisuki!" in her head, though.
Ha. So it can finally be revealed. Megumi was the source of the manga bribes. I guess this means Souma just stole them out of Megumi's room and she let it keep happening.
Back to business. The rebels have been separated! Rindo is hanging out on Souma's train. Good. We definitely need more Rindo.
Aha! The heel-face-turn villain in the epilogue is Hayama! I'm sure he got blackmailed into doing it because Jun's Spice Club was going to get shut down. Eizan did that to the other clubs, but there must have been a few that remained because they knuckled under the new regime's philosophy.
Next time, we'll find out how bad Hayama wants to play the villain. Oh, and Rindo in a hot bath? Make it so!
