Souma and the other students prepare their areas for the Moon Festival. Souma decides how he'll challenge Kuga.

Episode 2 - "Ma and La"

Souma solved the "name-value" problem by getting his yearbook buddy to put his goofy picture next to Kuga's page in the food festival guide. Clever.

Hee. That lion and kitty cat show Kuga and Souma's most identifying features. Strange hair for Kuga and Souma's eyebrow scar.

Yay! Ikumi! She's so disappointed she can't help out at Souma's booth.

This is news to Souma - he and Megumi are honorary members of the Don Research Society.

Har. Hisako knows that Erina would want to waste an hour in the kitchen with Souma.

Hoh. Erina is a little jealous at how familiar Hisako is with Souma now.

Ah. The "ma" and "la" in the title refer to the different kinds of spiciness in Szechuan cooking. Ma is the cracked dried black pepper and La is the red chili pepper.

Ah ha! Megumi just assumed she was going to staff Souma's booth. She's already assuming the waifu position. As if Souma was going to say no to her presumption anyway.

Alice is a wheeler-dealer. She just totally bamboozled Shiomi into letting she and Ryo into Hayama's food stall. Well, it's nice that Hayama is actually making friends now.

I keep forgetting how much meat is used in Chinese tofu dishes, but as flavoring instead of the focus.

Look at those swollen lips! This is the same look anime characters get for eating Indian curry instead of the Japanese version.

I'm digging the traveling background music as Souma and Megumi tour their friends' food shops. They've dialed in the soundtrack.

Whoa. Toutsuki Academy has lots of students. Not surprising since it's elementary school through high school.

Souma needs to get a uniform. He's been there a whole term and Summer already. He can't be a transfer student forever.

I love the look on his face as the other students sing the school song. It's a piece of evidence on how oblivious Souma can be to anything outside of the kitchen.

Nice. Souma figured out his strategy against Kuga. He's going to be a street vendor selling Taiwanese Black Pepper Buns. Now you know why brick and mortar restaurants hate food trucks...

And there we go! Customer foodgasm!

We'll have to see what Kuga has up his sleeve to keep the folks moving through his restaurant.
