10 Second Anime - Shingeki no Kyojin S2 - Episode 31

As the Scouts regroup, they realize the Wall was never breached. Reiner makes a shocking revelation and offer to Eren.

Episode 31 - "Warrior"

Heh.

When we get to that scene, yes THAT scene, I'll have some exaggerated reactions to it. Because, just, aaagghhh!

Meanwhile, back to the beginning of the episode, the Scouts are on top of the Wall the Beast Titan climbed, and they don't seem to notice the footholds he made in it as he climbed up it. Also, where did the Beast Titan get the boulders to throw at the castle? Did he get the Titans in the Wall to make him some and fix the holes he made? This isn't adding up for me.

Christa's full name is Historia Reiss. The Reiss family is some kind of noble family everyone knows.

Steam is coming from Ymir's wounds, so I hope that means she'll regrow her leg and arm too. But she's conveniently unconscious, which means her origins and what she can tell Hange about the Titans will have to wait.

Everyone just found out that there's no hole in the Wall, so they don't know where the Titans came from. Conny's village is going to be important for clues.

Armin just asked why this is happening now after 5 years of no Titan attacks on the Walls or the villages inside the Wall. Exactly, Armin! Why now? I keep asking this! This Armin kid gets it. We should also ask "why then?" while we're at it. Somebody might be in the mood to talk or something...

What the... What the what!? What is Reiner saying all conversationally to Eren. WHAT!?

Reiner just straight out told Eren that he's the Armored Titan and Bertholdt's the Colossal Titan and would he just come with them to their home village.

WHAT!? What are you doing Reiner? He just said, "Our attack on humanity." What are you doing?

I swear, this show knows how to shock an audience's sensibilities. People dying in gruesome ways is shocking. But big huge plot revelations treated as if characters were asking what's for dinner. Wow. That was shocking.

Best of all, Bertholdt acted like the rest of us. This is not how this works. This is not how any of this works!

Reiner said that they attacked 5 years ago to wipe out humanity but now's there's no need for that. What does he mean? He seems awfully affected by being attacked by other Titans and seeing Ymir transform.

Eren's acting like he usually does. By which I mean he keeps saying "Huh? Eh? Wha..?" Ah, Eren. Dumb as a box of rocks, but at least you do good stuff when you can shout your head off.

I'm still laughing at the panicked look on Bertholdt's face. This obviously wasn't part of the plan.

Oh goody. Flashback. This actually explains why Eren is acting all calm instead of screaming and causing a ruckus. It also explains why Mikasa and the rest of the Scouts are just letting Eren talk to Reiner and Bertholdt.

The flashback put the pieces together that Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt all came from the same village. You can thank Sasha for bringing those documents.

This puts suspicion on Reiner and Bertholdt, but they also remembered that Annie never socialized with them. But that didn't mean that they weren't all part of the same mission.

Armin picked up on a convoluted way of Reiner passing a message to Annie the Titan while breaking out of her grasp. Eh. He could have just told her where Eren was while she was holding him.

I remember that scene and thought that Annie was just looking at her hand in puzzlement that Reiner would actually hurt her that way. I guess it's a good enough way to leave a clue that he carved a note in her hand.

Eren wasn't a Shouty McShouterson for once, and actually gave Reiner an out to take it all back and that he was just acting crazy because of the trauma. I liked how he put it too, "Would I say sure, let's go?" Bertholdt looked hopeful that Reiner would defuse the situation.

Ah well. Reiner got impatient. People would have noticed his arm steaming the same way Ymir was at some point. That was a good bit of info to put in front of the audience before Reiner decided to take action.

And then the usual shocking stuff we expect started to happen.

Mikasa struck, but it wasn't enough.

Aw yeah! Shit is about to go down!

I don't think we've seen these two Titans in action since the original attack and evacuation crisis.

Interesting how they went straight to grabbing Eren and Ymir. These are two Titans that they didn't know about, so it makes sense to bring them back to headquarters.

Oh, look. The same hand Eren and Reiner clasped to get him up over the wall was the same one Eren obliterated when he transformed.

Eren has totally got his shit together. Finally. Good for him.

And cliffhanger. I'm satisfied. That's where you're supposed to put it.

What an episode. I'm still shaking my head over THAT scene. "Hey Eren, I want to talk to you about something. Five years ago, we demolished the Wall and began our attack on humanity. I'm the Armored Titan and he's the Colossal Titan." Ha! Hahaha! That was awesome.
