Scarlet and the Americans join the crew. Aine worries about her past. General Grabel launches an attack.
Episode 7 - "Imperial Hero -GRABEL-"
Heh.
Structurally, this episode picked up on the three major narrative threads introduced last time. The first thread was Aine's name being known to the enemy, which led to her own doubts and fragmented memories from when she was discovered.
A piece of her old life showed up in her dreams. It's probably the moment the Batlantean version of Hybrid gear was implanted into her. Strangely, it looked like men were involved, but we see no evidence, or at least a scarcity of them now.
Evocatively, Aine looks like a princess trying to reconcile her current persona with her past self. This isn't the kind of show which deals in visual metaphors, even in dream sequences, so the audience has been presented with a huge clue to Aine's identity.
The next thread was the introduction of the Americans, with some of Yurishia's former teammates. There's some bad blood between Scarlet and Yurishia, which probably influences their competitiveness.
Scarlet's version of their falling out had Yurishia taking the credit for the Americans' first mecha-dragon kill after the rest of her team had been sacrificed in softening it up. Yuruishia sadly accepted that version, as if she had just given up trying to explain how others took the credit on her behalf for PR purposes. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of tears shed when Scarlet and Yurishia finally reconcile.
Of course, a harem king has to go on a double date with girls vying for his attention. Yurishia still needs to perform a Climax Hybrid with Kizuna and Scarlet is curious about the Heart Hybrid power the Japanese have been using.
Scarlet also wants to score some points against Yurushia however she can and that includes getting extra special attention from the McFluffer.
It appears that any girl with Hybrid gear has the ability to access Heart Hybrid recharging if she gets aroused by Kizuna. I believe that the actual Hybrid Count recharging doesn't happen unless Kizuna himself enters that mode, so all the glowing and what-not is just the girl signaling she's ovulating, er, ready to receive his seed, nuh, his energy.
The third thread was the different personalities on the other side of the dimensional rifts in the Empire of Batlantis. We met Aldea and just had a glimpse of Grabel. Most of this episode was devoted to those two's relationship and Grabel's fighting prowess.
But just like how Earth has Hybrid girls acting impetuously, so does Batlantis. And there are other girls who don't like that either. All we know about Drill-Tail and Mousey-Boobs are they are rivals to Grabel and Aldea who have been waging sorties against Lemuria, what they call Earth, to much public acclaim.
Related to the Batlanteans are how both Grabel and Aldea give great weight to the name "Aine." Aine herself had finally gotten around to researching her past, only because the plot dumped it on her last week, but at least it provided some actual foundling angst that she can express to Kizuna. Each haremette has to find ways to "get ahead" with the harem king, right?
Enough about how the story connected pretty well with the past episodes. Let's bask in the glory of General Grabel! Thankfully for my heart, no red half-rim glasses and beauty mark. Blonde with dark skin and a hidden eye is more than enough for my checklist of charm points.
She's as overpowered as Aldea, probably more, and the Amaterasu crew should have known that they needed their Climax Hybrid gear to beat her. Well, nobody ever said these girls fight smart.
Yurishia was supposed to be the most powerful Hybrid Gear user, but her conventional attacks were also thwarted by Grabel. She's going to need that Immoral Weapon and Climax Hybrid mode now!
Grabel absolutely owned all the Earthlings. Fortunately for them, there's a stalemate of sorts because the Batlanteans use up their equivalent of Hybrid count very quickly while on this side of the Entrances. This is similar to how the Immoral Weapons are basically one-shot items, but with the McFluffer around, they can keep recharging.
This means the Earthlings have two advantages that the Batlanteans don't. They don't have a male wearing Hybrid gear and, from what we saw early in the episode, the Earthlings have figured out a way to close the Entrances, potentially trapping the Magitech girls on our side after they've used up all their energy.
That's all interesting, but the overall arc of this season is going to be Aine's journey into her past and her ultimate reconciliation with her newfound loved ones in this world. Yes, I know those panties are enticing, but that's not a good enough reason to join their side, Aine!
Geh.
Aldea wants to know if Grabel is ready.
Because these two don't need a man to get to a NSFW place.
But they weren't the ones to start us off. It was Scarlet with her grabby hands and ready crotch!
Yurishia and Scarlet's competitive date with Kizuna started at an arcade, but devolved into comparing bikini bods. Scarlet tried to convince that her breasts were much more "proportional" than Yurishia's flabby bags of fat.
Yeah, Kizuna doesn't want to hear about that. It turns out Scarlet has a much better weapon against Yurishia: an overly sensitive crotch.
Kizuna just breathing on it got Scarlet most of the way there and then she couldn't stop her hips from trying to suffocate him with heavenly torture. Yurishia was not amused.
That was an accidental McFluffing scene, so that didn't really count toward the inevitable Yurishia Climax Hybrid scene. I suppose the story demanded higher stakes to give Yurishia's scene more impact, but seriously, just waving her pontoons around would give us the same amount of emotional impact.
Luckily, the Batlantean island of Lesbos had us covered.
I'll say one thing, these girls know how to kiss, which is sorely lacking on the Earthlings' side of things.
As a mirroring device, these two talked about how they had been bitter rivals but get along so well now (apparently), lending an expected path for Yurishia and Scarlet's reconciliation. Could there be a three-way McFluffing scene on the way? I wouldn't be surprised.
What I liked about these two is how Grabel is in control in public, but she's the one getting dominated in the bedroom. Hard edges with soft insides. Aldea should know all about those soft insides...
I mentioned the kissing, right? Okay then.
I also found funny how it sounded like Grabel was asking for a huge dildo, but Aldea was literally describing the battleship Grabel wanted on her next invasion. All military incursions should be planned using double entendres.
Next time, the Earthlings have to deal with their savage beat-down and the Batlanteans will probably have some drama over finding lost royalty. I'm hoping Yurishia's Immoral Weapon is cooler than Grabel's Gun Sword.
