Filler Shippuuden continues. The brothers Indra and Ashura complete their trials in different ways.
Episode 467 - "Ashura's Decision"

Some plot book keeping to keep track of here: Indra's location had a similar situation. A piece of the Divine Tree caused problems and benefits for the locals, but Indra came back pretty quick, while Ashura took about a year.
Hagoromo wanted a hint from Gamamura about any future visions he had about his sons. Toad Sage ain't sharing, though!
Ha! Gamamura's going to need a bigger jar for his portal.
I did like how it looked like the villagers were going to attack Ashura with their farming tools as he dug through the bedrock to sink a well. But they actually came to help.
Ashura, who uses wind chakra, developed a crude looking rasengan. Naruto is his reincarnation after all.
The image to remember from this episode is the burning of the Divine Tree to neutralize its deadly sap. Ashura took a year to dig that well, teach the villagers ninshu and have them burn it on their own. Contrast this with what we'll find out about Indra's methods of dealing with his villagers and the piece of the Divine Tree next episode.
Boo! Cliffhanger on Hagoromo naming his successor.
Next time: Fight! Indra had a whole year to gather political connections, so he won't be the only one angry at the inevitable decision that Ashura is the true successor of Ninshu.
