Episode 3 - "No Self-Awareness"
Heh.
The episode title could describe every episode of YuruYuri...
Yay! We got our first reference to Chinatsu's terrible art for the season, and it did not disappoint.
Akari freaked out over silver skin. It really does make you wonder how Chinatsu views the world.
Aw. Isn't Art Teacher Ms. Azuma just precious?
She described Sakurako and Himawari's double tsundere friendship perfectly.
I found it hilarious that Sakurako didn't just take Himawari's boobs away in her portrait, but she made her concave!
Himawari tries to come off as the serious one, but she can be just as petty as Sakurako, judging by how large Sakurako's portrait puffed out the chest area.
And then came the sneezing jokes causing accidents on the paintings. Himawari's turned out the best, in my opinion. She protected Sakurako's privacy and identity!
There was a connecting theme between the art class and the rest of the vignettes. By observing a person's outward appearance, one can mimic the traits that make them admirable. Sakurako did this the wrong way in trying to emulate Ayano and Kyoko tried to imitate Yui to keep Tomoko's mistaken identity going.
Even Himawari knows that Ayano has a "special relationship" with Kyoko. Oblivious Sakurako didn't know that she was taking away one of Ayano's treats in paying Kyoko a visit.
Look at all the fun Ayano missed out on! At least Himawari protected the pudding in the fridge.
Kyoko had the usual response to one of Chinatsu's "masterpieces."
Why, yes, Tomoko-onee-san, that is a fine example of zettai ryouiki.
I think Tomoko's reaction to seeing Akari for the first time hinted at her own "special relationship" with her older sister Akane.
Akari does look like a miniature version of Akane, even down to the twin hair buns.
We can all agree that Akari is very cute. I also noticed that Tomoko has a mature version Chinatsu's twin tails. These sister pairs are very similar. Akane has an unhealthy attachment to Akari while Tomoko sees Chinatsu's "art" as masterpieces. The older sisters are both somehow warped in the way they see their little sisters.
The punchline to the whole show was how Tomoko expressed Chinatsu's opinions of Kyoko to Yui, but she still found a positive way to describe Kyoko's personality. Kyoko didn't have to imitate anybody to be someone that Chinatsu admired. Aww!
