Filler Shippuden continues with Tsunade still reading Jiraiya's manuscript. Team Jiraiya appears to have a different agenda than the masked man who captured the shinobi captains.
Episode 435 - "The Jiraiya Ninja Scrolls: Naruto the Hero - Order of Priority"
Heh.
I figured out why this framed story is annoying me so much - it's twice removed from the actual narrative. While the other dream worlds of Yamato, Tenten, Killer B and Karin actually dealt with their dream worlds, Tsunade is just sitting around reading Jiraiya's manuscript. It's a fake story in a fake world. I wanted to see Tsunade do stuff in her fake world, not see some fake Naruto in a fake story in Tsunade's fake world.
About the only nice thing in the episode was when the little boy got his teddy bear back.
The Obito character in this fake story has a byakugan instead of a sharingan. It made sense that Neji followed Naruto into that Obito's personal dimension. I'll just let it slide that the byakugan isn't supposed to have that ability...
This fake story appears to take place before the chuunin exams where Naruto defeated Neji and gained his admiration. The real Neji became Naruto's number one fan after that and I still get a lump in my throat thinking about his sacrificing himself for Naruto during the war.
Are those Mashima monsters supposed to be salamanders? Like the salamander Hanzou the deposed leader of the Hidden Rain village used to summon?
The most disturbing thing in the episode was to see that Tsunade was just over half way done with the manuscript. A this pace, we've got at least 2 or 3 more episodes. Oh joy.
