10 Second Anime - Ore Monogatari!! - Episode 13

Takeo and Rinko surprise Suna on his birthday. Ai has a college suitor.

Episode 13 - "Today is on me"

Heh.

Things are going well for Takeo and Rinko.

Maybe too well? They weren't doing all that lovey-dovey stuff and appeared to be doing little victory dances on their date with Suna tagging along.

Of course. If those two have a common objective, all that self-conscious stuff goes out the window. They scored a flawless victory against Suna's surprise birthday party. It helped that even Suna forgot it was his birthday.

Aw. Suna was so touched by the gesture. Takeo had it right - Be happy! That's how you're supposed to feel, Sunakawa-kun.

This little side story was only the hors d'oeuvre for the next story arc.

Okay, Takeo needs to finish up his squid hors d'oeuvre... Getting Attack on Titan flashbacks here...

Hmm.

There was no way Ai's unrequited love story was over when last we saw her, still fangirling over Takeo at the hospital after her father's surgery. Enter Oda, a college kid chasing after Ai. From what he told Takeo, their story followed a similar path to Ai's and Takeo's, except it was the hopeless kid being mothered falling in love this time instead of Ai falling for Takeo.

I'm also glad the little bit of drama between Takeo and Rinko was resolved quickly too. Japanese teenage girls are so superstitious. Going on a date to a Disneyland type park jinxes the relationship? Even though that curse was commonly known, I doubt it was commonly believed. That amusement park makes bank with couples, no matter what country it's in.

As for Oda's plan to get Ai some real closure by making her confess her feelings, I think it's stupid. Not on his part, because he doesn't know Takeo like the audience knows him, but it's selfish on his part, because he just wants Ai to move on as quickly as possible so he has a shot at her.

Will Ai really let go of her feelings just because she put them out in the open? I know that doing so won't change Takeo's feelings about Rinko, but there's ample opportunity for comedy, tragedy and drama. Somebody's going to hear something out of context. Somebody's going to question their resolve. Somebody's going to question someone else's intentions. It's going to be a big old mess. What a perfect way to start a new season!
