Yui and Yukino see firsthand the problems with the Christmas Event committee. Their group of friends go to a Christmas themed amusement park for ideas.
Heh.
After all the tension from the past few episodes, it was a welcome change for some light-hearted rapprochement between our main characters. Yukino talked to Hachiman in the club room first, which was a big deal. And then Yui just had to sit closer to Yukino. Much closer.
The real fallout had to be dealt with internally by Hachiman, though. He totally embarrassed himself in front of two girls. Worse, it from an actual attempt at intimacy, instead of the cynical trick he played with Hina. That's not the cool, detached Hachiman we've come to know. Identity crisis, right?
Uh, no. Komachi called her big brother out on that crap. What kind of weak identity do you have if it's able to be cracked so easily? The shame you feel is from your actual identity. Komachi tried to out-Hachiman Hachiman. Good try, but Komachi had to score some real points with torture.
Yup, Komachi scored points by saying she loved her big brother's personality, no matter how twisted it was. Hachiman's relationship with Komachi and Shizuka-sensei are the easiest ones he has, because he doesn't have to put up that Hachiman persona. It's always a treat to watch their interactions.
There were some developments from the last few weeks that needed to be integrated with our main characters.

Yui feels really close to Yukino now because of the big hug they shared last episode. But Yukino has a problem with personal space, so Yui shouldn't take her pulling away too personally. The girls also needed to see the easy reliance Iroha expects from Hachiman now. They didn't like it. They didn't like it one bit. And Hachiman really wants Shizuka-sensei to get married, otherwise she'll keep kidnapping him for impromptu excursions.
The light-heartedness continued at the Destiny Land park, which was a funny rip-off of Disneyland.
Main characters group picture get!
I had great fun trying to recognize Space Mountain, the Matterhorn, Pirates of the Caribbean and more. Hina got to fly her fujoshi flag a little bit, and even to reach out to Hachiman to ask about the aftermath of his false confession. Hachiman making friends? There's some growth for you.
The best bits were Yukino showing off her obsession with the panda mascot Pan-san. Yes, Yukino had a season pass to this place.
Respect the Pan-san! Yukino hates crowds, so she really didn't want to go during the Christmas season, but she also really wanted to go because she loves that place. Shizuka-sensei noticed what Hachiman did by giving her an excuse to go - he needed to buy a Christmas version of Pan-san for Komachi. That's using the fake-but-not-really politeness that Hachiman and Yukino claim to hate, but are now accepting that it's a kind of grease to help social interaction and deep friendship too.
Of course, since this Teen Romantic Comedy is SNAFU, we can't have fun cutesy stuff mixed in with characterization leading to increased intimacy for very long. You need to watch Ore Monogatari for that stuff. Iroha decided to make her play for Hayato, whom she always denied she liked, even though it was obvious she did. She got rejected and the drama began again.
