10 Second Anime - Shokugeki no Soma - Episode 11

Souma's Shokugeki against Chef Shinomiya begins with a twist: Megumi is the lead chef.

Heh.

Shokugeki as a street fight. I love it.

Shinomiya was awfully deferential to Dojima. Hinako too.

We saw before how much of a character Hinako could be during her session with Souma and Megumi, but wow! She is hilarious.

Faking a fake accent speaking Japanese sounds so fake.

Good for Megumi for being mad at Souma for butting in. And she does have a rural accent!

The main cooking music theme was used to great nostalgic effect as Megumi tried to plan a dish that was her very own. It got to my shriveled up heart.

Yeah, I don't know how long I'd stand that gibbering from Hinako either.

She's not wrong about him, though. Even the others say he can't keep a girlfriend for very long because of his nasty personality.

Megumi has nice eyes. Well, they're nice when they aren't terrified and she looks like a deer caught in the headlights.

Shouldn't she be used to being judge by cooking monsters by now? It's not as if her instructors couldn't be every bit the world famous chefs that were assembled in the basement kitchen.

Well, Megumi couldn't be our normal girl stand-in if she didn't worry.

You know, I should have paid better attention to those little introductory title cards the characters get. If I had, I would have noticed that the guys get green eating utensils while the girls get pink. That way, I wouldn't have been so shocked at Fuyumi's foodgasm.

That morose little dude was a girl! Apparently, Shinomiya, the Vegetable Magician, makes food that increases bust size.

Speaking of magicians, only in anime would that theme run straight towards Magical Girls complete with transformations.

Even their wands had a little cabbage on them. And Dojima as Cabbage Pink, oh my! The serious alumnus had to become the magical familiar, of course.

Hmm.

In the scene where Hinako was calling Shinomiya names like "stubborn, mule, narcissist," the one that got a special rise out of him was "poser." Did Hinako actually strike a nerve or did Shinomiya just lose his patience with her at that point? It seemed like the same nerve was struck when she was making puns about Megumi's last name Tadokoro and the word "restaurant" (shokujidokoro), implying that he didn't have much imagination in naming his. Was it just Hinako being mean, because it seems like they have a history of some sort, or is she referring to Shinomiya's past with these little digs? I'm just thinking that there's a reason they showed Shinomiya struggling with a blank recipe page a couple of episodes back. Perhaps Megumi's rainbow terrine will be the catalyst to explore that.
