One of the nice things about footage from onboard cameras in the pro peloton is that viewers can finally see what the riders see from inside a tunnel. The cameras on the motorcycles broadcast their signals via microwave to a following plane or helicopter, and the signals often get blocked by trees and tunnels. The issue of using the small cameras for live pictures will probably face the same problems, but at least the video files can be quickly uploaded after a stage is over.
