10 Second Anime - Shokugeki no Soma - Episode 6



Souma learns about his dorm's ingredients facilities and decides to save the Food Bowl Research Society from Ikumi the Meat Master.

Heh.

I wondered how Isshiki handled his nudity outside of the kitchen and I suppose sporting a fundoshi is an elegant solution.

 

Aw, so Megumi suffers from performance anxiety, which is why her practical grades are so poor.

 

Not much in the way of nudity inducing foodgasms this week. Souma must not have figured out how to make a signature food bowl.

 

Actually, that's understandable, plus why he was experimenting with so many kinds of dishes - he wanted to join the donmono (bowl things) research society to learn something new to add to the selections for his family diner. He may have flashes of brilliance for improvising, but those flashes come from connecting all his past experiments and experiences with the ingredients on hand.

 

Souma's pride as a "diner brat" pushed him into challenging Ikumi at his first Shokugeki.

That's a nice change of pace for a main character to have some flaws which require him to dig out of the holes he created. Also, that's not a "good guy" face, Souma. Well, chefs are known for having strong personalities and emotions.

 

I was expecting more from Ikumi's blade work than just cutting off a dude's hair flip.

Thematically, introducing the dorm's miniature farm to emphasize the importance of ingredients was a good way to think about the extremes of the upcoming Shokugeki combatants. Nikumi (she hates that, "niku" meaning "meat") stands at one extreme for quality butchered meat by way of her family's meat empire and Souma stands at the other for inexpensive ingredients chosen for fast food stall and diner fare. Proper preparation for both kinds of food will be the key to victory.

The very little bit of introduction we had of Ikumi last week hinted at lots of sexiness in the future, we were not disappointed with the full treatment.

Short skirt, knife holster and necktie tied around her thighs to make us think of garter belts, bouncy cleavage, American flag patterned bikini top to evoke well fed foreigner anatomy, dark skin with blond hair to add in bad girl gyaru flare, topped off with a neck collar. Combine with her tongue licking her lips, and everything about Ikumi means she's a hot flame that weak moths can't help burning themselves on.

Ikumi is the meat master, and she knows how to use her fat to create a more enticing flavor. I presume, anyway. I'm talking about cooking here. *sigh* No, I'm not.

She knows you're looking. That was her plan all along.

Hmm.

Souma wants to beat Ikumi at her own specialty, using inferior meat. From what we saw of the foodgasm in Megumi and the Don, it was good, but not enough for the mindblowing, clothes disintegrating reactions we've seen before. I suspect that Souma will realize that he forgot to account for the main ingredient in donburi - the rice. I'm looking forward to what he comes up with there, along with beating his meat, ahem, tenderizing the meat to one up Ikumi at her own quality meat game.
