10 Second Anime - Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru Zoku - Episode 3

10 Second Anime - Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru Zoku - Episode 3
The Service Club is asked to throw a school election while they still feel awkward about Hachiman's actions during the school trip.

Heh.

Yukino figured out part of what was bothering her about Hachiman's actions with the false confession last week - hypocrisy. Supposedly, Hachiman hates superficiality, especially in relationships, so what was the point of his preserving the shallow friendships within Hayama's clique.

Some popular girl got nominated to run for student council president without her knowledge and Hachiman goes straight to another sacrificial lamb solution. Yui and Yukino suspected that he would be the one to offer up a terrible endorsement speech to sabotage the reluctant candidate. It's one thing for a handful of people not to like him for sabotaging a love confession, but this would involve the entire school.

New opening credit scenes already? The song is still the same, but it looks like it's going to be a while before we see these smiling faces on Yui and Yukino.

Yukino's older sister Haruno still likes messing with the boys in Yukino's orbit. How does she have Hayama's number? And why does he jump so quickly following her request? It's been too long since I saw the last season, but I do remember Hayama belonging to one of the other influential local families like the Yukinoshitas.

Hachiman's younger sister Komachi is still as observant as he is.

She knows something happened on that school trip, which made her brother moodier than usual.

As if the awkwardness level this episode wasn't high enough, let's just add Hachiman's crush from his junior high days to the mix. That girl is supposedly the source of all of Hachiman's cynicism. Even worse, Haruno was there to watch the whole thing.

Hachiman is still a dude. Maybe Yui has gotten a little "further ahead" than Yukino based on her "style."

Hmm.

Yukino's solution to the reluctant candidate is to back another candidate. Unfortunately, there isn't one, even though she's already written a speech and a platform for this nonexistent candidate by the episode's end. Hachiman objects to this recruitment of a fake candidate because it would be exactly like the drama with Yukino and the cultural festival committee last season.

Something about Iroha, the reluctant candidate, bothers Hachiman, which reminds him of his crush from junior high. I think it's the fake smile she gives out to boys, which might explain how someone else was able to gather all the petition signatures and turn in the election paperwork without her knowing. I'm surprised the Service Club hasn't tried to figure out who did all this work and why they did it. Shouldn't the teachers accept her withdrawal too? This plot seems all too elaborate in the solutions but the premise isn't well structured.

Some stray details working their way in towards the center are how Iroha is adamant against Hayama joining the election and that Haruno told Hachiman that she never ran for student council president when she was in high school, suggesting a way for Yukino to outshine her in some way if she runs for student council president. The latter detail appears to animate Hachiman's objection to the "puppet" candidate idea, especially when Yukino already has a speech and a platform that she thinks can win over a popular candidate.

Will Hachiman come up with another plan to blow everything up so he can jump on the explosion, or will Yukino's more diplomatic plan win out? I want to see Hachiman apply his ruthless methods to his own relationship within the Service Club to make sure Yukino doesn't end up running for president.
