10 Second Anime - High School DxD BorN - Episode 4



Rias and Sona volunteer to confront Loki and prevent Ragnarok. The group suffers a setback after the only effective weapon against Loki arrives.

Heh.

Rossweisse looks quite, ah, formidable in her Valkyrie armor. Rias and Sona are not amused by Issei's and Saji's appreciative looks.

 

Lots of offense in this small group of fighters. Supposedly the big guys couldn't go because fighting a Norse god at this time would fulfill the prophecy of Ragnarok. Did the healers and Gasper not go because of the small limit of people Rias' brother could magically transport?

 

Only a dragon emperor or higher could wield Mjolnir, Thor's hammer, so that's why they figured they could send that weapon ahead of reinforcements since Issei could swing it. Nice blindside at the end to set up the cliffhanger.

 

Um, Issei doesn't die. Don't worry about that. We just have to find out how the plot armor works next episode.

 

We've seen our main characters get their upgrades, so it was nice to see the side characters level up too. Irina got a reincarnated angel soul to give her wings.

She can throw around a big halo now too.

 

Saji proved quite effective. Having a magical lasso that not even a god can negate comes in pretty handy.

 

Rossweisse having the same voice actor as Isuzu from Amagi Brilliant Park gives her that same military bearing with social anxiety. Same body type too...

 

Geh.

In a battle action episode, the NSFW stuff is greatly reduced, but it's still there. Thank you, Sona, for doing the heavy lifting.

Running, jumping and flying around means panty shots. That's the rules.

Koneko giving us the panchira was an obvious device to introduce her use of nekomata powers. That means nekomimi kuudere loli kick! This bookended nicely with Akeno showing off both of her devil and fallen angel wings. Yay character development! Yay upskirt shots at the same time!

 

 

Hmm.

When Thor's hammer appeared, I expected Issei to grab it and then spend some time trying to figure out how to use it, with Loki adding tension by attacking him at the same time. I did not expect him to be blindsided and crushed nearly to death by one of the dire wolves. That was a neat surprise and added an emotional catalyst for the others to take care of Loki's pets so that he's the only enemy left.

 

Rias was undergoing her own emotional catalyst at the end, so we'll have to wait until next episode to see how that shakes out. The preview let all the tension out of the bag with Issei shouting about some new powerup for stripping clothes off people, but we all know he wasn't going to die in Rias' arms at this point in the season. Issei's ero power is too strong to let a couple of huge holes in his body slow him down for long.
