Koufuku Graffiti - Episode 10
Ryou and Kirin meet the downstairs neighbor Yuki, share a pizza and show how friendship makes food taste better.
Heh.
All this angst the girls have about going to a new school reminds me how close to the end of the season it is for this series. That's a bit sad, but a revelation at the end of this episode makes me hopeful for a sequel.
Kirin is a physical monster! She apologized to Yuki for using her railing to save her life. Hilarious, and scary!
Children, be careful playing with railings and open windows.
How could such a skittish, shy person ever be a teacher?
Maybe if Yuki thinks about the kids in her classrooms as birds and cats, things will be alright.
Yuki may be "friends" with those animals, but I wonder how "friendly" they are with each other. Is Chunko the bird and Mike-chan the cat, or vice-versa?
Yes, seeing the cult of foodgasm during their magical rite is strange and wondrous.
Yuki doesn't think she has what it takes to react to food like this.
It takes practice! Ryou is the master, because she can do this even with mediocre food, while Kirin is still an apprentice, because she only does this with food she hasn't tasted before.
Well, Yuki had nothing to worry about. The foodie is strong in this one.
The chibi versions make clear that Yuki only needs a little nudge to enjoy their dance of foodie joy.
I found hilarious how long Yuki's internal monologues took, how she reacted to them externally, and how outsiders reacted to this long pauses the same way other people have reacted to Ryou's foodgasms.
Hmm.
We actually had some plot progression here. The passage of time never stops in this show and they've been pretty good in showing it. From how the seasons change to using the table calendar with the picture of food from last episode's foodgasm material. But we finally met the character given a name card in the first episode whom we've been glimpsing throughout the whole show.
What's important about Yuki is that she just finished training to be a fine arts teacher and got hired by the local fine arts high school. Could this be the very same high school that Ryou, Kirin and Shiina are aiming for? This is cute girls doing cute things anime, so you know there are no random plot elements nor coincidences. The only question is whether they'll show the girls going to school by the last episode, or just feature their orientation assembly and meeting Yuki there.
This is why I'm hopeful for a second season and many more home-cooked meals with our now four member foodie cult.
