Nona sends Decim an irregular pair for judgment, in which one, or both, have killed someone.

Heh.

We're back to a structure very like the first pair of the season, where the story appears to concentrate on the mystery of how the souls died, and here, who they killed, but it's actually a setting to see how more of the afterlife works, and to advance the overall plot of how different Decim is from other Arbiters.

The last memories of both the detective and the young man had them walking on the same street, but at different times of the day. I'm sure their separate stories of revenge are related to the other's circumstances surrounding their deaths.

The detective saw that Decim's eyes, though emotionless, hide no subterfuge. He tells the truth in everything. I wonder if all the Arbiters are constrained to tell the truth, but have different strategies in withholding answers until the certain points of progression for the games and after the games have been finished.

Kurokami can receive others' memories too? Just how much of their lives do each of the souls receive when they appear for judgment? The same amount as the Arbiter?

Hmm.

This was the special request Nona had asked Castra to do for her - send two killers to a Judge not specialized in high crimes. Nona is still playing with her new toy of an Arbiter who can feel emotions. I guess the deal with Decim is that while he feels emotions, he doesn't express them, which is a bit different than how the detective in this episode interprets his actions.

In the conversation with the former Quin Decim, Nona said that Decim had not yet begun to question his decisions for judgment. I'd like to know specifically what she meant here. Like having regrets after the fact until the memory wipe? Or taking longer to render a judgment? We saw already how rarely he used the extreme situation trigger, and now that it's broken, he hasn't bothered repairing it either.

We've seen Nona and the other staff members complain how many souls have to come to them for judgment, so perhaps Decim is an experiment, not just to relieve boredom, but to find a faster way to judge them. Bringing out the darkness in extreme situations may be faster, but I'm not sure it works all the time. The bowling couple is an example where nothing dark would have happened.

The story of these two killers' revenge isn't over yet and Kurokami saw some tantalizing clues about who they killed and who killed them. Of course, I'm more interested in how this assignment affects Decim and Kurokami. The real story is what happens when Decim lays down his judgment and the consequences afterward.
