Cross Ange - Episode 10
Tusk rescues Ange from her public execution and returns her to Arzenal. Ange and Hilda connect over their severed past relationships.
Heh.
Well, if you ever wanted to see how not to foster sympathy for a little blonde girl in a wheelchair, Cross Ange just figured that out for you. Yikes!Ange's brother is a real piece of work too. He confirmed that he manipulated Momoka into finding Ange on Arzenal, just to lure her back for her public execution. If Sylvia was in on the plot, then she played on Momoka's sympathies too.
That Norma switch is powerful. Beautiful older sister. Norma. "Give me my legs back, you antisocial monster!" Somebody's antisocial, alright.
Tusk and Ange make the most poetic reunion imaginable.
Considering how they first met, it's almost a perfect replication.
With all the cuts and lacerations Ange got from her remaining family, giving the vain Julio the First a scar on his face was good enough payback. Sylvia got a nice spray of blood in the face, but that's not enough recompense for all the lashes she gave Ange.
Ange doesn't have super healing abilities, so this situation is a bit more serious than in some other show.
Tusk started the rescue, but it was Ange and Momoka who ended up rescuing him.
Momoka thinking her tomboy mistress had found a boyfriend was hilarious. Tusk giving her a ring only compounded that misconception.
Oh, Ange. Tusk isn't only praising the hair on your head.
He's spent so much time examining another part of your body, he should be an expert on whether the carpet matches the drapes. You do have very nice blonde hair...
Hah! Jill gave Ange the best kind of welcome back to Arzenal - punch in the gut!
Naked on cold concrete, again.
Such an inconvenient shadow.
Looks like Hilda and Ange have something to bond over now. Both of them were different than the other Norma on Arzenal since they spent so many years with their respective families before being discovered. Instead of growing up from infancy on Arzenal, they have that feeling of consciously throwing away their connections to bigoted family.
Hmm.
This episode at the end felt very much like a reset, or closing a chapter on the beginning of the story. Ange had confirmed that, except for Momoka who is with her, there is nothing and no one left for her in the former Misurugi Empire. The second half of this story can now begin, where we find out more about these Norma sympathizing terrorists. A Knight of Vilkiss, is what Tusk called himself. The magic ring being activated by Norma blood appears to be an evocative symbol of their goals. One thing I noticed during Ange's realization of who the real monsters were, nice use of black and white where only Ange and Momoka were in color, is that Ange still doesn't fully understand the threat Norma are to magic users. Norma can cancel all magic they come in contact with. If you have a few rabble-rousers, they could totally disrupt the magic infrastructure, causing chaos and anarchy. I'm sure there's some kind of history like this that caused the total separation and bigotry against Norma when magic usage became prevalent.
With a larger opposition force to the magic using nations being fleshed out, I hope to see more how these worlds were established, how they keep order, and what the hell these Dragons are about. When the open rebellion breaks out, I'm looking forward to Tusk reuniting with Ange again, using their usual greeting: face in her crotch!
