This last 3 week training block of the year will feel like starting over, but not really. After more than a week off the bike, I got back into the bottom range of my peak fitness, which makes turning over the heavier gears more comfortable again. But the focus of this last block will be form and technique, not performance. I did a lot of strength building in the last 12 week block, at the expense of my form. I learned that I can't do hammertime up a steep climb for an hour without the ball of my left foot and big toe screaming at me. Fine. I'll remember that I can't hold my pursuit position up a hill in the drops for that long anymore. So, it's time to sit up, concentrate on small circles, and punch those hip flexors on the upstroke. It took a while to get used to the faster cadence with my breathing, so now I have to get used to it again with my pedal stroke. Hammer, don't hurt me!
