This was climbing week as I concentrated on my pedal form, with a leg breaker course on Saturday. And talk about breaking legs, this Chaney Trail blew me up. It's been years since I redlined on a steep climb, but since this was the first time I went up this bit of road, I was unfamiliar with some of its pitches. It's pretty much a 20% grade all the way up to its highest point, but I didn't respect it enough, and stayed standing up for too long on one ramp. Boom. There's no real place to recover when you're going 4 to 5 mph turning the pedals at 33 rpm. That's survival mode. I'll respect it now.
