Amagi Brilliant Park - Episode 2
Seiya learns what's at stake for Amagi Brilliant Park's survival. He takes the job to increase attendance, but plays the bad guy to motivate the employees.
Heh.
This show is all about the little details. Seiya decides to take the job after noticing how much the park cares about kids from the rounded corners on the benches, how good the croquettes tasted, and how much the cast members cared about the guests when they were called fools. Seiya also wants to stick it to that glasses guy.I can't get over how much I enjoy the facial expressions the mascots put on.
Seiya is a bit of a smart guy. Not surprising though, since most child actors are geniuses in one way or another.
Tiramie the cat and Macaron the ram really need those massage chairs at the end of the day. Tiramie thinks Macaron needs a bit more pounding action.
If kids weren't kicking and punching them all day, this is what the veteran mascots would be doing.
The mascots all have to put the ends of their names at the ends of their spoken sentences. Moffle always says "fumo," Tiramie says "mie," and Macaron says "ron."
Don't let their looks fool you. These three cute characters are really dirty old men who like to drink at their local bar. Company uncles of the salaryman set.
Well, Tiramie is the dirty one. He can't stop
He likes big butts, and he cannot lie!
There's an actual story point for this scene. The mascot characters have to wear these magical amulets to walk around in public. The amulets change other people's perception of what they look like. I'm sure they'll figure into a plot element at some point.
With all the fighting these old guys do, there's a good chance an amulet will go flying.
Seiya and Moffle have already settled into their adversarial relationship.
Why adversarial? Instinct. Actually, I think Moffle is protective of his niece, the Princess Latifa, and somehow senses this interloper is going to take her away from the park. Hey, instinct doesn't have to be rational.
Geh.
Isuzu has quite the set of guns. That gun may shoot bullets that bring pain twice the amount of a stubbed pinkie toe, but those pinstripes bring me some other kind of pain.
Hmm.
We're getting hints that Princess Latifa has an illness of some sort, perhaps related to Animus, which the magical beings need to keep existing. I'm not sure if the people looking types of Maple Land also need this Animus.Seiya wasn't chosen randomly by Isuzu either. Some kind of prophecy picked him out as the one to save the park. I hope we'll find out more about this prophecy and whether it's related to Seiya's prior relationship with Latifa.
Seiya's scene with the park bench was effective. He not only sees how much Amagi Brilliant Park cares about kids, but his response of imploring them to take care of themselves before caring for others belies a personal reaction. I'm sure the story will explore Seiya's past at some point and reveal why he quit acting.
The New Era of Dictator Seiya has begun, and the abrupt orders cause consternation on Day One. The cast members have to swallow their anger, because whatever they were doing before hasn't been working in attracting larger attendance numbers, but they still have their pride. Tension and drama, expressed by mascots with rage faces!
