I thought I'd break a few records on my flat course this week after posting a 2nd best for the year (or ever) on Monday, but the wind, traffic, and my own fatigue got me going slower. I can confirm that the thicker shims on my shoes worked. Maybe because my feet felt so chipper after putting them on, I was able to go really fast on that first day. But really, the blustery conditions the rest of the week, and maybe not feeling fresh in the legs to push through the wind got frustrating toward the end of the week. Maybe I was just tired from the 8000 feet of climbing from the week before... I consoled myself by looking at my median times for 2010, both overall, and for peak times, and I'm 1 minute faster, and the trend is still getting faster. A minute faster over 16 miles is marked improvement from 4 years ago. It's the end of another 3 week block, and the 6th week of the 12 week program, so I get an extra 2 days of rest.
