Tour Tidbit du Jour - 7/9/2014

Lars Boom, the winner of Stage 5, which included the fabled cobbled sections of Paris-Roubaix, shows the effects that rain had on the course. Rain heavily affected defending champion Chris Froome, who crashed twice before the race even got to the pavé, and was forced to abandon the Tour de France. The last time a defending champion abandoned the Tour was in 1980, when Bernard Hinault injured his knee and could not continue.
