With Italian national champion Vincenzo Nibali with a comfortable lead over the next closest Frenchmen, Bardet, Gallopin, and Pinot all at 3 to 4 minutes behind, the headline for L'Equipe is a little overblown. This Year or Never, it screams. Those three Frenchmen are 4th, 5th, and 6th on General Classification, with Péraud, the other AG2R rider in the picture, at 8th place. The last French winner of the Tour was Bernard Hinault in 1985.
