tifoso (pl.
tifosi) - Italian for sports fan, but sometimes used derogatively in English language cycling broadcast coverage to describe disruptive spectators on the side of the road. Example:
Tifosi were especially active on the Monte Zoncolan, ruining Bardiani rider Francesco Bongiorno's chances of contesting the stage with the winner, Tinkoff-Saxo's Mick Rogers, and almost knocking over pink jersey wearer Nairo Quintana of Movistar as he rode further down the slope.

Might be worth mentioning that tifoso actually has no specific connotation in italian, it literally just means supporter, someone who roots.
