It Was Only A Matter of Time...

I'm not sure what the progress of tort reform has been in Germany, but if one lawyer is soliciting for compensation suits regarding alien abduction, I think the market is drying up. Jens Lorek, a lawyer in Dresden who specializes in labor and social issues, hopes to base this untapped market on a German law which allows kidnap victims seek compensation from the state. There's just that little matter of proving the abduction, but Lorek seems unconcerned about that, "noting that extra-terrestrial watchdogs report scores of alien assaults every year." Now, what might be these "assaults" entail? So far, Lorek hasn't had any clients yet. Perhaps government intimidation by the men in black suits? Or maybe even these abducted Germans have just a slight streak of pragmatism: "The trouble is, people are afraid of making fools of themselves in court." Yes, it's one thing to be called crazy in the middle of the street by people reading The Weekly World News, but it's quite another thing for it to be proven in court.
