After one episode, I saw all I need to pick this show up for 10 Second Anime. I don't even care if the writing hits a lull in the middle parts. Why? This.



You've got your nice guy main character who is a full-blown train otaku. You've got the nice girl main character who seems to know our main character from a random encounter in her past. You've got the genki girl who loves to shoot. And you've got your trusting tank who's reliable in a skirmish.

Did I mention genki girl likes to shoot?



Not only that, she's an excellent shot.



You also have actual training. Heh. Punny. No, really. Our train otaku loved the steam engine practical lesson. So did the girls!



Also, the school-like slice of life part of the show was over in less than an episode. Any show that has young people not in school gets an extra look from me.

The relationships between the youngsters are quickly established too, with the genki girl knowing what's in the hearts of all young men, no matter how nice they appear. You show him!



Geh.

You saw the end card. That was the exclamation point for a fun summer anime. Because, I mean babes. Bodacious babes.



This show knows its audience. Train otaku are just a different kind of otaku. Right?



Yeah...

There's also room for romance. Since these are young adults, there's not all that embarrassment pressure from your classmates knowing who likes whom. If you want to kiss someone, just go for it.



Stupid nice guy main character... I'm not a fan of the clumsy tripping excuse to fall on each other, and I hope they pull that card rarely. Our nice girl character is top-heavy with poor balance enough as it is. We don't need the nice guy main character to be that clumsy either.

Hmm.

It's only the first episode, so we haven't even been introduced to all the main characters yet, but this looks like a perfect fun summer anime. I'm looking forward to more riding... the rails!
