The Italians love their nicknames for notable cyclists. This year's winner of the Giro d'Italia, Colombian Nairo Quintana of Movistar, has been dubbed, "Il Condor," The Condor, after a New World vulture who makes its home in the high mountains. Very apt, since the Andean Condor's habitat is in the Andes mountain range, whose northern regions lie within Venezuela and Colombia.
