Big Brother Araragi has his hands full with three little girls vying for his attention. That nameless thing comes after them again, but Ononoki's jump lands them out of range in more ways than one.

Picking up from last week, Shinobu's story about the nameless darkness didn't add much information to what they're seeing now, although, to Japanese audiences, having this thing be the origin for the legends of people being spirited away is an "aha" moment. Ononoki was listening in on the story out in the hallway, because she figured Shinobu wouldn't tell Araragi the whole story if she were present. Then, after much argument over whom Araragi likes the most out of the three little girls, which then includes all the other girls in Araragi's "harem," Mayoi wakes up, and joins the argument. While Mayoi and Shinobu try to determine who is "best girl" in Araragi's eyes, Ononoki has some ideas about the nameless darkness.

Yeah, it was that kind of fight. Ononoki believes that the nameless darkness is not an aberration, otherwise Shinobu as Heart-under-Blade and the first Aberration Hunter would not have had the trouble they did with almost getting swallowed whole. Just as Ononoki names Gaen Izuko as the person they should consult on this thing, it shows up again, and all four leap out of range.

Literally, out of range. They end up in the mountains with no cell reception. Also, Araragi seems to be out of range of Shinobu, who didn't make the leap even when she entered his shadow, but she's not dead because Araragi is still an aberration. Ononoki deduces this because he can still see Mayoi. Coming down the mountain with Ononoki and Mayoi, he is finally able to text Senjougahara and Hanekawa that he is alright. All these events are happening concurrently with the earlier arc in the season dealing with Hanekawa's regret, which is why Araragi was nowhere to be found until the end. And then they meet Gaen Izuko, the lady who knows everything.
