Episode 12 — “Ancient City Insurrection Part IV”
Hmm.
Erika had an odd moment in this Mahouka episode. She saw how Tatsuya
gave Masaki a secret that was a double-edged sword. The confession that
Tatsuya belonged to a top-secret organization appears to be a charming token
of trust. But it’s also something that he can use as leverage, extortion, or
blackmail. Erika called it “brute force” persuasion and remembered how he
strongarmed her into joining his Scooby Gang. Tatsuya’s friendships resemble
the give-and-take of mutual relationships, but the “secrets” he trusts them
with are the kind that get you killed if you let them slip.
Heh.
Aw. Minoru has trouble in public because his good looks draw too much
attention. Add Miyuki next to him, and crowds around Kyoto temples might
start a riot. Scandalous looks! A local restaurateur lays down the skinny
on the rift between Traditionalists and the Nara freaks hiding Zhou. Of
course. Tatsuya’s number one fan in Mahouka, outside of Miyuki, is
happy to see the legend. Masaki Ichijou wonders if they can team up before
the Thesis Competition.
Whoops. Was it okay for Tatsuya to tell people he’s a “special officer?”
That’s like saying he’s the Mahouka version of Batman. Erika calls
Tatsuya’s “charm” a brute-force technique of recruiting. Masaki looks for
revenge, too, because that Zhou guy fooled him in Chinatown after the
Yokohama incident. Aw. We saw Minoru blushing heavier during his outing
with Tatsuya, so that was the sign he would need bed rest from exhaustion
the next day. Minami will watch over him. Closely! Embarrassing!
Part of the hunt for Zhou includes a murder investigation for Mayumi.
Nakura’s blood needles could become a tracking device stuck inside Zhou.
Bamboo forest attack! Tatsuya let Masaki have some glory. Mayumi made a
Marilyn Monroe impersonation after Masaki’s wind-blocking technique.
Tatsuya traced them back to the Traditionalists’ headquarters, but is Zhou
there? Before they could investigate, Minoru had a health emergency.
Mahouka’s current story arc should have “sidetracking” in its
title.
This is a side story about the Kudou’s experimentation to create a super
magician. The Kudous can’t figure out why Minoru is so frail when he has a
healthy body. Tatsuya’s Elemental Sight technique is how he reconstructs
objects to their last save point. If Kyouko asks Tatsuya to use it on
Minoru, the Shiba genius will know all the Kudou clan’s secrets. Tatsuya
found something horrifying! What?
Uh oh. Tatsuya plans on a dojo raid. It’s empty except for the Ancient
Magicians, who are no match for the walking neutron bomb. At least they told
him where Zhou fled. Ancient City Sidetracked Part V for Mahouka next
time.
