Episode 7 — “Steeplechase Part III”
Hmm.
Mahouka hadn’t touched much this season on the “almost” romantic
intentions Miyuki has for her big brother. That changed in one episode! She
crawled into bed with him because he was “cold.” He’s always cold! Miyuki is a
literal ice princess, so how could he not be?
Then she reminded him why the Yotsubas set him free of their human weapon
program. He’s a walking neutron bomb instead of a chained and targeted one
because he has one mission — to protect the future leader of the Yotsuba Clan.
That gives Tatsuya a lot of leeway, though. Ensuring the safety of Japan and
Miyuki’s friends is an interpretation of that mission. Have fun, Tatsuya. Go
BAMF on those Parasite Dolls!
Heh.
Tatsuya is sneakier than his sneaky branch family cousins. But Master
Yakumo out-sneaks Tatsuya! The Steeplechase course has tighter military
security than the Yotsuba family expected. Mahouka always
lays out its cards before Tatsuya satisfies its audience.
Tatsuya uses a spreadsheet to track his scheduled players. Montage of
First Magic High School dominating the other schools. There she is! Pixie,
Tatsuya’s personal Parasite Doll, monitors the presence of other
Parasites. Uh oh. Miyuki feels jealous of the students under his care. I
sense female selfishness!
Tatsuya’s fatigue affects him now. He entertained the idea of blowing up
the Steeplechase course with his neutron bomb Material Burst. Miyuki
reminds Tatsuya his primary purpose is to protect her, not anyone else.
Well. We know how that will turn out. By protecting Miyuki in the
Steeplechase event, he’ll save everyone else. Play up the old-fashioned
romance scene, Mahouka.
Oho. Miraculously, the shadow under Tatsuya’s eyes disappeared. Izumi
Saegusa shows her devotion to Miyuki publicly. Ayako’s offensive skills
benefit the Yotsuba clan, as we’ve seen before.
Aha. Not a surprise here. Kyouko, Tatsuya’s walking neutron bomb handler, sent
the secret warning about the Parasite Doll weapon testing. Kyouko also brought
his Bat Suit, er, MOVAL armor. Ahaha! Master Yakumo told Kyouko her Kudou
elders had played her because the Parasite Doll never had a chance of going
berserk. But the Parasites could escape the dolls and take over students. So,
Master Yakumo didn’t object to sending their neutron bomb to take them out.
Tatsuya heard everything he needed to know! Oh, Mahouka. Never
change.
