BREAK.16 — "The Naruko Super Express!!"
Cycling Porn.
Yowamushi Pedal gives us many loving shots of Naruko's Pinarello before his cycling death. This anime is so old that it never worried about throwing bottles off the road. Now the UCI jury sanctions fines for littering outside of designated garbage zones. Naruko rides a classic Sella Italia saddle with his Italian Pinarello frame.
Heh.
Midousuji can feel the Naruko Super Express catching up to him. Gross! Onoda understands what it means when Naruko leaves his water bottles behind. Onoda struggles to accept Naruko's sacrifice. Instead of denying it, he thanks him for it. Ha! Naruko called his opponent "Dumbosuji." So stupid! Naruko threw his saddle and seat post away! He's sprinting out of the saddle to catch Midousuji anyway. The yaoi fans and fujoshi drool at the screen for an "accident." Midousuji remembers Naruko pulling this stunt at the Osaka sprint race from Yowamushi Pedal's last season.
Oh, come on. That's not the end of Naruko yet. Imaizumi caught him. Now, show us how flashy you can be, Naruko! Imaizumi brought out Sohoku's scariest weapon: a friendly hand on a teammate's back. Onoda must accept Naruko's feelings of self-sacrifice now. He gave him a nudge in the back too! That's the strength of THE NATIONAL CHAMPION OF JAPAN. It's over for Midousuji. And Naruko. End of the line for the Super Naruko Express. Right on time. Thanks for the cycling death scene, Yowamushi Pedal.
Now it's Imaizumi vs. Midousuji, Kyoto Fushimi ace vs. Sohoku ace. Who wins? You know. THE NATIONAL CHAMPION OF JAPAN. We still need nine episodes for that confirmation. This scene is so anime that even Onoda, the otaku, can sense the "pressure." It's over 9000! The former Sohoku Big Three want to hurry to the finish line to cheer their juniors on. They mourn Naruko not finishing the Inter-High race again. Fun! Kinjou gets Arakita in the car! I can't wait to hear him and the others yell at each other for the rest of the season.
Arakita shares a weirdly friendly connection with Onoda because of Manami. Arakita brought both climbers back to the front of the race last year. He saw an inkling of why Manami regarded Onoda so highly before the little guy became THE NATIONAL CHAMPION OF JAPAN. Lots of Big Bro energy is coming up!
Next time on Yowamushi Pedal, a shifting wind favors someone. Yes, it's Manami.
