The previous episodes introduced new characters and aliens. Shuutarou came down from a parachute, and Kurama popped out of a buried spaceship.
Cherry's niece, Sakura, joined Ataru's school as its new nurse. She exorcised a haunted pair of boxing gloves. Later, Lum rescued Ataru's pride by replacing his mystery date. Ataru rewarded her by holding her hand on the way home.
