Aoi convinced Mary that he wanted to upend the pet system, but doing so required money. The speed-dating gambling event was the quickest way to win money, with a low buy-in. If the boys successfully choose the girl that chooses them, they get their money back, plus the date. The girls get a discount on their buy-in by allowing a dinner date or spending the night with the boy. Tsuzura needed an explanation on that last part that blew her innocent maiden mind.
The problem with a five-member team in this contest is managing the goals of all the girls. Some girls want a love connection while others aim for money. The girls win bets if they spoil mutual choices with the boys. The maximum profit happens if the no connection choice happens, but Mary's team saw a perfect match even after Mary and Tsuzura switched their choices. There's a mole, and Sachiko lets Mary knows there's a simple solution to solving who that is.
