Episode 10 – “Everyone Has a Lot Going On”
Hmm.
I like last week’s translation of the My Dress-Up Darling episode title better. Sajuna’s response to Gojou’s genuine care for Shinju explains Marin’s “wuv.” She saw how well he protected her little sister and made her beautifully bloom. We know that Gojou treats his cosplay models as well as he treats his bisque dolls. Recall how he physically reacted to catch his porcelain doll face in the first episode. That’s how much he cares. Marin witnessed that, and then she saw how authentic his feelings were for her beautiful face. That authenticity made her fall in love with him when he called her “beautiful” in an unguarded moment. He told her his true feelings when he was the most vulnerable.
For people who wonder how a flashy gal like Marin could fall in love with sheltered and shy Gojou, this is your answer. In the fifth episode of My Dress-Up Darling, she heard someone compliment her without any artifice behind it, and he wasn’t trying to get in her pants. He didn’t say that to get her attention and her digits, and he didn’t expect anything in return. Because Gojou is an authentic otaku for arts and crafts, he has fun assembling a costume and sewing fabric by himself. Miniature modelers know this feeling.
The premise behind My Dress-Up Darling is that cosplay models become a different bisque doll for Gojou. But these dolls are living, breathing girls with “a lot going on” behind their beautiful faces. Gojou needs to realize his new cosplay dolls are fragile emotionally too. They may take a bump to the head better than porcelain, but they have more than empty air inside them. Gojou is starting to practice emotional care with his beautiful cosplay dolls too.
The main problem for Gojou is that he has no experience sharing his hobbies with friends. If he had done this at an earlier age, he could discern the difference between friendship and romance. The new dolls in his life need to treat him with the same care he treats them. At least Gojou knows when he’s feeling sexual attraction to a sexy girl. But romance, friendship, and all the shades of intimacy in between are much more complicated. The dolls in My Dress-Up Darling have a lot going on. Marin recognizes when she goes too far, but she still enjoys the authentic attraction. That is new for her too.
Heh.
Accurate sound effects of the reflex shutter bouncing in the camera body. I used to be a photographer’s assistant, which meant standing around and holding things. But also, loading film and labeling used film rolls. I’m old. Yes, yes. Juju-sama is “totes cute.” Shinju becomes as animated as Marin. My Dress-Up Darling fuels those yuri doujins with Black Lobelia’s chin-in-hand move. Whoops! Marin couldn’t keep in character for long enough. She’s too much of a fangirl. Look at that goofy smile! Aw. Sajuna is having fun too, but she’s too tsundere to admit it.
Eh? The official translation of the episode title changed from last week. The vague “a lot going on” captures the polite implications and subtext the Japanese language loves using. Anyway, we already saw Gojou say this to Shinju. Sajuna is a proper older sister for Shinju. She’s not the “big sister” in My Dress-Up Darling, that’s for sure. Sajuna will pay Gojou back for his time assembling Shinju’s costume. With money!
Gojou pressed upon Sajuna that it takes courage to share your genuine feelings about things. The fear of rejection makes people fragile. Sajuna felt a twinge of love for Gojou because he protected her younger sister’s feelings so well. Gojou’s collection of cosplay dolls in My Dress-Up Darling keeps growing!
There it is! Marin and Shinju got the pure essence of Black Lobelia in that shot. Shinju’s pride burst out. Literally! B-Holders need stronger hooks for her bodacious anatomy.
Ah. Image editing on “Photolight.” It looks like Lightroom to me... Oho. Sajuna realized she didn’t fall in love at first sight with Gojou’s Shizuka-tan costume. Not just with the outfit, but also with the one wearing it. Shinju and Sajuna share deep feelings with each other. Sajuna is jealous of Shinju’s body type because her younger sister can cosplay characters that she can’t. Well, her philosophy of cosplay accuracy prevents her, anyway. Uh oh. Sajuna likes Gojou’s smile. Watch out, Marin! Hahaha! Marin felt jealousy rise! She already painted her magic crystal black.
Wow, My Dress-Up Darling played the opening sequence a third of the way through the episode. Gojou is in the middle of summer vacation, and he has more free time than he expected. Because Marin’s next cosplay project has a super small and simple outfit. Of course. It’s another h-game. I want to see a tan Marin play Veronica too! Marin drops banging health advice. I, too, will increase my daily dose of underboob.
Wowsers! Tan Marin! Did she go to a tanning salon? Aw. It’s just bronzer. Did she rub it everywhere? Can we check? Yes! She applied the foundation in all the cracks, creases, and crevices. Marin totally wants Gojou to peek. So long, tan Marin-chan. Gone too soon.
Har. Gojou discovered the joy of a girlfriend borrowing his clothes. Fun. Will Marin use those shackles for anything else besides the Veronica costume? Marin bought a brick wall backdrop, so she’s all set for a photoshoot. Hee! Gojou took in his dose of underboob. I’m sure he’s feeling healthier right now! Ouch. Marin hits her head a lot in My Dress-Up Darling.
Since Gojou and Marin need to wait for her bump on the head to shrink, it’s time for a summer vacation date! Marin wants to dress her man! The salesman doesn’t think much of Gojou’s first outfit. Marin appears stunned. Ha. Hahaha! Her reaction grunts come from pure joy! She has “wuv” goggles on because Gojou looks handsome in everything. What a cute couple. Matching T-shirts! Shopping date montage. Gojou managed to keep his old style.
Oh, no. Gojou refused to shoot Marin’s Veronica cosplay. The underboob makes him feel too “healthy!” Marin loves the compliment. She’ll send him pics later. Oh, yes, she will! Next time, what will Gojou be doing in a “wuv” hotel?
